Fun Day!!!!!

Had a great day yesterday! Sewing with my buddy, Regina! We did 10 minute blocks...... they are so much fun and easy to do! Regina finished her quilt top up and I made a quilt top for my grandson in one day! I had cut most of my blocks the night before. They go together so fast and make a great looking quilt! I will use this pattern again and again!

It was a great feeling to get something done! Now what to do today? Hmmmmm........need to go shopping for Mother's Day, but would love to quilt my grandson's quilt! Although, my son is getting very impatient for his quilt that I should have had done a long time ago!!!!!!!!!

Where has the time gone??????

Hello Quilters!
Just wanted to say that I am still here! Not much quilting done! How does life get so crazy? Just an update for all......since I last posted, I have a beautiful grandson, born January 27th! He was 4 weeks early and we almost lost my daughter. Life has been a roller coaster, but I am happy to report that she is doing some better. Among the huge list of complications, she has pancreatitis and is still struggling with that. She is finally able to be home and taking care of her wonderful boy. She is on tube feed and just found out today that the pancreas is still inflamed. So probably several more weeks of tube feed ahead of her. We did bring her here for two weeks the end of March to help her with everything. She lives in Kentucky and we have made six trips back and forth between Michigan and Kentucky since the end of January. With gas prices so high, we have not been able to go back. Miss them all so much, and miss cuddling with my lovely grandson! Have had some health issues since myself, but things are looking up and I am hoping to get back to my quilting soon.

My best friend and wonderful support, Regina has been here for me. Aren't best friends great! We just spent a wonderful weekend on a quilt shop hop. It was great and we picked up some wonderful project ideas (along with some projects, but shhh.....don't tell)! So we will be sewing together this week working on UFO's and maybe some new things!

So keep watching for progress and pictures! I am back at it and back to posting! You have not heard the last from me!!!!!!! SMILE

A FINISH!!!!!!!!

I am so happy to have this quilt done! It is for my daughter and her husband. I was supposed to have it done for Christmas, but that did not happen. Finally done now! My daughter is 17 weeks pregnant and confined to bed for the rest of the pregnancy. Hopefully, this will help to brighten those boring days in bed. I made the bag a couple of years ago out of the same fabrics and thought it would be a great way to gift the quilt!

I am now renewed and ready to finish more!

I did finish quilting this quilt for my daughter and her husband. Still need to put the binding on! I have so many UFO's to work on......I am slowly plugging away!

I finished my mom's table topper! The family was over for a visit last thursday and while they were here, I finished sewing on the binding. Needless to say, mom was thrilled that it was done and grabbed it up to take it home. I had a hard time getting it away from her so I could take a picture!!! LOL Now I just need to get her pillowcases done.

Baby Quilt Done!

Finally, I finished the baby quilt that was to be a gift for the baby shower this morning! Finished up the binding late last night and had it in the washer before I went to bed at 3 this morning! Nothing like the last minute.......lol!

I used a teddy bear brown and blue flannel for the backing......turned out great and mom-to-be loved it. She is a very special young lady. She received 3 handmade quilts and loved every one of them. She knew she was getting one from Regina and was hoping the rest of us quilters would also give her one. We did not disappoint her!
I also made cut out sugar cookies for favors.........they are onsies and they turned out pretty good! Everyone liked them. The shower was awesome! We have very talented women at our church and very good cooks. Our friend, Val organized it and did a marvelous job (oops, Tammy helped too) cannot forget cutie pie Tammy!
It was a marvelous morning! Had a great time and was able to check off some things from my "To Do List"...... yipppeeee!!!!

WONDERFUL NEWS FLASH..............

I am going to be a grandma for the first time..........we are so excited..........this may not be the first time I mentioned it and probably won't be the last..........bear with me......lol!

Finishing Projects..........

I have so many projects started, that I have lost count. I look at others blogs and wonder how you all get so much done and keep up with your posts. I am trying, but feel I am falling short. I work full time and know that other quilters also work outside the home. I am a nurse and find the job getting harder everyday as I get older every day! I am so happy to have quilting as an outlet for my stress. I am however, finding it hard to have enough energy to sew after an eight hour shift on my feet all day and the 90 minute commute.(sigh)

I know, I know.......I am feeling sorry for myself and boo-hoooing! But......does anyone out there find it hard to sew with deadlines(besides me)? My mother's birthday was the first of June. I decided to let her pick what she would like me to make her and she picked it out a few days before her birthday. I made sure she knew that it would not be done on her birthday, but was hoping that I would have it done within a week or so. Here it is July 20th, not done, but close. It is quilted and ready for the binding.

Next is a baby quilt that needs to be done by Saturday for the baby shower! I did work on both of these projects at Regina's cabin back in June, but they have been sitting in my sewing room since I got home. Well, needless to say, they will both be done by this weekend.

I however am feeling a bit down. Especially when I look at all the quilter's blogs out there and see how much everyone is accomplishing. As Regina keeps telling me "it is a hobby", and I know that. I will just keep looking at all your blogs out there and keep "panting" along! So quilters.....keep those posts coming and I will use them for my inspiration! On that note I am going to bed............SWEET QUILTING DREAMS!

A day late on this post........seems like that is me lately. A day late and a dollar short.......

Oh well, anyway........I have so many new and old projects to post. I am in the process of organizing them and I have a baby quilt to have done by the 24th. I went to Regina's cabin last weekend and we worked on disappearing nine patches. I started a table topper for my mother also. I still have not unpacked it all, sooooooo........as soon as I do, I will be posting pics. That's my update for this week and will have more to come soon!!!!!!

"I AM NOT STARTING ANOTHER PROJECT"!!????

I have this friend, aka "One I". She finds all these great quilt patterns, tutorials, blogs, etc. She is always making new quilts. I mean constantly starting a new project. I can't even get one started before she is on to her second new one........"come on I say, slow down and let me catch up"..........finally, I say, "ok, that is it, I am not starting another new project"! I say, "One I, you have an illness and we need to get you some help"! But before I can get her help, she has either slipped something in my drink or I have actually drank from her cup without knowing it. Low and Behold............

Today I started her new project........hour glass blocks! They are really fun......... 2 inch strips.....

I finally finished my fall table quilt! I have had it pieced for quite some time, but it always takes me a while to quilt things. So here it is. I am happy to have it done!

Next is my table quilt with some of my husbands finished projects. He is a woodturner and has been and will be in several art shows this summer. He does excellent work, but I am a bit partial! If you would like to view some more, check out thelatentlog.com

Had a wonderful weekend up north with Regina! We took our sewing machines and worked on a quilt we had planned to do at retreat! Oh what fun we had..........why does it have to end so soon. I then had to come home and have an injection in my back for my back pain. Not feeling so great right now.......hoping this will soon pass!

We got back from retreat safe and sound and I am finally getting around to post.......Sorry it took so long! We had such a good time at retreat and are looking forward to next year! I am back and pumped to sew, but.......unfortunately, I am back to work and having a difficult time managing my time......I know that many of you work full time and still make time to sew. I am just lacking in the organization dept. for now. But I will overcome!!!!!!!!

Here are some beautiful fabrics that I found online. I am going to use them in a comfort quilt, with the Take 5 pattern.

Next, my mother has requested an apron.......guesss what she is getting for mother' day!!!!!giggle
Now here is my Take 5 that I did at retreat.......just needs borders and will be ready to quilt!
And.......My favorite.......Rear Window.......found the pattern at Jen's shop. Just love it! Completed this one at retreat.........now just need to quilt it!
I am so excited about all my projects! I have many to finish and many more to start. Hopefully, I can get organized and I will have something every week to show. Keep quilting and send me some quilting vibes!

Not much sewing done lately. Still working on my snowballs, but making slow progress.......Spring is trying to get a start around here. The weather was really good for a few days and now it is cold.......what can I say, it is Michigan! Regina and I are working on our kits for retreat.......not much longer and I cannot wait!!!!!! So I am hoping to get things ready this weekend and then I can spend some time on some neglected projects! Hope everyone is sewing up a storm out there!

Happy Easter to all! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I spent the day with family and had a great time. The weather has been great and I think I may be pulling out of my winter blues........!!!!! Have not sewed much at all.......but, I am getting ready for retreat! 17 days and counting! WooHooooooooooo!!!!!!! I am on a mission this week to get some sewing done, so we will see how it goes. I will be doing some cutting this weekend and getting projects ready to take to retreat. Wish me luck! Since the weather is nice, it is time to get to the flower beds also........Much to do and little time!

I have a lot to celebrate this month. March is the month I was born, and although I am getting older, I am still alive and sewing........yippee! I also injured my back at work in April of 2008 and I am finally starting to feel better for the first time in almost two years. I have had a lot of difficulty keeping my sewing mojo going, have had many ups and downs and now I am ready to get it going again...........whew, having said all that, be prepared for pictures. Tomorrow is a day off and I will be sewing all day..........more tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is time to make more snowballs and nine patches......February is almost over!These are fabrics I have picked out to make pillow cases...........as you can see they are still pieces of fabric and not pillow cases yet!
And last but not least, my happy hour quilt is pinned and I started to quilt it and did not like it, so I am ripping..........hubby was feeling sorry for me tonight and tried to help out.............

Busy Weekend.........

Well, no time for sewing this weekend. Work calls. I did have two days off this week and was able to finish a backing for my queen size happy hour block. (forgot to take pics) Anyway, next day off is Wednesday. I am very anxious to get back to the sewing studio. Although, I am thankful to have a job to go to.......so there! Positive attitude! Everyone sew some for me and I will be back soon!

Then I cut some more 2.5 inch and 6.5 inch squares for more blocks..........
.......and a put a border on my bento box.......next stop quilting it........!

Quilt Along Update.........

Ok ladies........ I am finally getting started. My fabrics are cut and ready to lay out and sew. I have finally organized myself and am in good shape (for me, that is!) I now have two sewing studios, which shall be named Upper Level and Lower Level. Lower Level was established in December 2009. It was created for the purpose of spending more time with hubby. He was feeling lonely and left out. So I found a nice table and set it up with my sewing machine that I use for craft day and sewing with my "bffl". Now I can sew while he watches t.v. However, I soon my be deaf as the volume is quite loud..........huh.........did you say something? Sooooooo.........I should have pics to post later today. Well, off to the Upper Level.

Had a wonderful first day of 2010. Several of my church buddies got together today and sewed all day. We had a potluck and the menfolk joined us for lunch. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful friends. I had such a wonderful day. Forgot the camera, so no pictures. I plan on having a lot of finishes to post in the very near future!

I finally finished something!!!!! Yes, I am still here and still quilting....... This quilt is from my UFO list and finally done......yippee! I made this for my cousin's son, who loves John Deere tractors. I made this for him for his birthday (which was in October, oops). His mom and dad loved it. He was playing with other children and took two seconds to kiss it and went on playing. He is two......and very cute!

Yes, I am still here and quilting! I have done a very poor job of posting on my blog lately. I am here to remedy that one. I have several projects in the works. Actually, I think I am having my own Quilters ADD workshop! I have so many projects started and none finished. Oh well, I don't think I am alone here. Right? Right!

I did go on my very first shop hop with some very good friends and had a great time. I took one picture. I was having way too much fun touching all the fabric. I must do that again! I kept all the addresses of the quilt shops so that I could return sometime. They are not all that far from my home. I think I might be able to talk my quilting buddy, Regina into going with me..................?

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that I am alive and giving my husband grief! And sewing some....................must do more!!!!!

My niece is turning 2 on Monday. I did not know what to get a 2 year old that has everything. I mean, how many toys can one 2 year old play with. I decided to make her a small quilt that she can drag around. I used 8 1/2 inch blocks. I used a pink striped flannel for the blocks for the back. It went together pretty quickly. I started Thursday morning and had it snipped and washed by Friday afternoon. Hope she likes it!

Today I spent a lovely day sewing with my friend Regina. We did more talking than sewing, but I did get two pillow cases completed. This is a kit from Connecting Threads.

THIS WEEKEND........

I spent some time outside this weekend. The flowers are dying, it smells and feels like fall is on it's way. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the colors and the weather. I like to clean up the flower beds and make them fresh for spring.

I was sitting under the pergola having coffee Saturday morning, enjoying the sunshine. Looking around, I saw a very pretty green toad sitting on the edge of the lattice side. He looked like a ceramic statue, but I could see his throat moving. He was only about 2.5 to 3 inches in size.

Then looking around more, on the other lattice side, there was another toad. He was not quite as pretty, but much smaller. Not more than and inch, maybe a tad more but not much.

I think they were also enjoying the sunshine! It was a nice morning and then the sun disappeared. The rain showed up Saturday night late and Sunday morning.................

MAKING PROGRESS!

Just received some great caffe fabric. Just love it! I am going to make some valances for my bay window and small window over the kitchen sink. Not sure when I will get them done. I still have to make the curtain for the sewing room.................... much to do, little time!

Working on my fall "Peaches and Dreams". These are the small squares for the outer border.

Here is what I have done so far. All the blocks are sewn together and I have two borders on. Needs one more 2 inch border before the small blocks border. I want to get it done before fall is over and it is time for Christmas. I better work faster.......................!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend was my 33rd wedding anniversary. Hubby and I went north. We spent time in Charlevoix and Petoskey. I fell in love with Charlevoix. Petoskey was nice too. This is a picture of the pier in Charlevoix. I took the picture from the park and behind me was the town with all kinds of restaurants and shops. I did a little shopping and found a very nice quilt shop. We also went to a small town north of Petoskey called Harbor Springs for dinner. We ate at a restaurant on the pier in that town. Great fresh fish!

I visited three quilt shops. One in Traverse City, Petoskey, and Charlevoix. I bought fabric at each one. Hubby was very patient and let me shop as long as I wanted............... what a guy!

"Bad Day" turned "Better Day"

Today started out to be a bad day! Got up not feeling well, went to work and started feeling worse. Left work after one hour much to my co-worker's disapproval. Hey, they should live in this body for one day.............. they would change their tune in a hurry! Anyway, came home, took some meds and slept for four hours. I got tired of the bed................. imagine that?! Took some more meds and decided to sew. I worked on my fall "Peaches and Dreams"!!!!! That was better than any drugs I know of!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am liking this. I am not sure if I will do the borders the way the pattern is. I am using this for a table quilt. I may change it up a little. But this is what it looks like so far...................... What do ya think? Not such a bad "hump day" after all....... HERE'S TO A BETTER THURSDAY!!!!

Hi to all my quilting friends! I am still hanging in there. Sewing, but not getting much done. I have had a very busy week. Working a lot which does not give me much time to sew. I am working on several projects, but have not finished any yet. I did get to spend Saturday with my buds, Regina and Val. It was a good way to end a very busy week! We are all working on the Peaches and Dreams quilt by Judy L. It is a great quilt, fun to do. It looks so good no matter what fabrics you choose. I am working on Christmas and fall table quilts. I started on the Christmas one Saturday. I am also working on a tote bag for a gift for a co-worker. I need to get the tote done pronto!

I finally finished piecing the Happy Hour quilt top. I just need to finish the backing and it is ready to quilt. I will be attempting to quilt this by myself. I have only quilted small quilts. YIKES!!!!!

Here is the John Deere fabric I found on line. I have been looking for some to make a quilt for my cousin's little one. Cool, huh!

This fabric is from Hanover Fabrics in Searcy, Arkansas. My mother and I did a little shopping while we were there for the wedding.
This is house #1 and my really, really big tree!

House #2, fence and sun! The picture would not go where I wanted it to. I tried several times. I gave up. It is at the top of this post. Still working and still having fun!

It is a great day! I have a song in my heart (I sing slightly better than "one i"). I had a great day with my friends, Regina and Sharon yesterday. We sewed a little, had lunch and talked alot! Hubby is leaving for the weekend and as soon as he hits the door, I will be headed to one i's for more sewing.......Yippee!!!!! I will get pictures this time. We were just having too much fun to take pics yesterday. Oh and I am on vacation this week (another reason I am happy). It will end soon so I must make the best of it!!!!!

This is the car I rented while I was in Arkansas. It is a Nissan Cube. I called it a baby Hummer! We had a lot of people pointing, laughing, and wanting to look at it. What fun!

The wedding was beautiful. What a wonderful young couple and they liked their quilt! Yay!! Anyway, I am back and ready to get back to that UFO list!

I finally finished the quilt for my nephew's wedding gift. It is a good thing since I am leaving for Arkansas tomorrow! Whew! One to check off my UFO list.

A day with my friend

I spent the day with Regina one Saturday and I had to take pictures of the new cutting table. We had a great day and I finished the bag I was making for my mother. Unfortunately, it was a finish before the UFO project got underway. Oh well, a finish is a finish. (notice "one i" doing her Vanna impression)

I am working fast and furious to finish this quilt for my nephew and his new bride!

I will be flying to Arkansas on Friday with my mother for the wedding, so I must finish soon.

I don't even have a dress to wear yet. I have been really sick with a sinus infection and have been in bed most of the weekend. I went to the doctor today and got an antibiotic. Hopefully,

things will look up!

UFO List

O.K. Here we go. I was not going to do this because it would put to much pressure on me, but, I think I can handle it. My UFO list:

1) Finish quilting quilt for nephew's wedding (June 13) and binding. - DONE!

2) Happy hour quilt top to finish piecing. - DONE!

3) Table runner, starting cutting and piecing.

4) Connecting threads kits: one table topper and two table runners.

5) Thimbleberries quilt from last year. I am only up to month 5.

6) Thimbleberries quilt for this year. I have two months blocks to finish before Saturday!

7) Purses and purse organizers requested by co-workers? Have not officially made the commitment.

8) Window curtain for sewing room.

9) Garden Trellis quilt

10) Turning Twenty quilt

12) Chenille scarfs

That is all I can remember right now. I think there is more. Some of these do not qualify as UFO's. But, I made my list. The reflux is already starting just reading this!

This Weekend

We spent some time in the yard this weekend. My bearded iris' are starting to bloom. They are one of my favorites!

My corabelle are also looking great!
We had a fire in the fire pit tonight. Hubby roasted corn in the fire and we had italian sausage on the grill. My friends Regina and Sharon came over. We ate by the fire and sat out until it got chilly! What a great weekend!

I did not get much sewing done this weekend. My husband helped me move my cutting table to the middle of the room so I would have wall space for a design wall. I have my happy hour blocks up. As you can see they would not all fit so the rest are laying on the cutting table. There are 99 all together.

I figured out how to change background colors, etc. I still cannot get my pictures from my camera to work. I am computer challenged, but I will overcome. If I didn't have to go to work everyday, I could quilt more! I have finished a baby quilt since I have been back from retreat. I have lots of projects started and none finished. My husband is still looking for a new quilt on the bed!

Quilt Retreat 2009

I just returned from my first quilt retreat today. I went with my best friend, Regina D. We had the best time. I met the most wonderful quilters. They encouraged me to start a blog. One of the first things I did when I got home was get started. So here I am blogging! Who would have guessed. I didn't! I will figure out how to post pictures sometime soon. Be patient with me!

I am married to a wonderful guy named Ted. We have been married for 33 years this August. We have two children. My son is 28, single and lives in Colorado. My daughter is 27, married and lives in Kentucky. I have been quilting for a year now and love it. My second love is gardening. My best friend Regina keeps me going, quilting and loving life!
